The Sunflower - Helianthus annus L. - is a distinctive flowering plant, the seeds of which produce a valuable
edible oil that contains more Vitamin E than any other vegetable oil. There are two main types of sunflower grown today,
the Oilseed, which bears small black seeds which are - as the name suggests - very high in oil content. The seeds of this variety are processed into oils and meal. The second type of sunflower is Non-oilseed or confectionery sunflower. This plant bears a larger black and white striped seed which is used in a wide range of food products.
There are three main types of Sunflower Oil, NuSun, Linoleic and High Oleic. Multifry are able to supply all these varieties in addition to our R.D. Organic Sunflower Oil.
Growing Location
The Sunflower is widely grown across the globe with the vast majority of oils sourced by Multifry being of European origin.
